CLFI Celebrates National Teachers Day in CDO

In culmination of National Teachers’ Month, Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. joined the festivities in Limketkai Mall, Cagayan De Oro City. The event, called “Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago,” was hosted by the Department of Education Region X, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Cagayan De Oro and Misamis Oriental and tackled the education sector’s journey to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In her opening speech, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones emphasized how the country is gearing towards the age of artificial intelligence, smart technologies, augmented realities, and cyber systems that obliterate the boundaries between the physical and digital.

During the event, attending educators were treated to a day filled with entertainment and activities in recognition of their untiring efforts. Participating teachers also joined the ‘Teachers Got Talent’ contest for a chance to show off their talents and win prizes.

Afterwards, recognitions for both formal and non-formal teachers were awarded – including Cebuana’s Extraordinary Bastion of Unconventional And New Approaches or Strategies (CEBUANAS) awardees. Ms. Renilda Elorta from Region 12- Dadiangas West Learning Center, General Santos City, Ms. Leeneil Buquia from Region 7 Hinigaran Elementary School, Negros Occidental and Ms. Rosemarie Rubia from Region 9 ALS Dipolog Pilot School, Dipolog City were awarded based on their extraordinary commitment to their careers. CLFI Program Head for Education and Special Project Kristina Muñiz, Area Manager Richard Guanzon, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, and DepEd Undersecretary for Partnerships Tonisito Umali led the awarding of trophies and certifications to the three CEBUANAS awardees.
